6. Counterveillance - Contextualizing Data
Thesis Project / Exhibition / Research Talks
Salt Lake City, UT
datavis, cartography, research

Surveillance practices in the United States continue to expand amid limited regulatory oversight. As corporate and law enforcement interests increasingly intersect in the development and deployment of monitoring technologies, the broader social implications often remain underexamined. This research uses my personal dataset as a case study to illustrate the vast scale of data collection. The information is presented through immersive, scroll-based data visualizations designed to convey the magnitude and complexity of contemporary surveillance systems.

5. Tracking Russian Aggression - The Kakhovka Dam
Self Initiated / Web Project
Kherson Oblast, Ukraine
datavis, cartography, 3D modeling, OSINT

On June 6, 2023, the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam in southern Ukraine released billions of gallons of water, flooding towns along the Dnieper River and killing at least 59 people. Ukrainian and international officials have accused Russia of deliberately targeting the dam, part of a broader pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure.

This timeline and accompanying 3D reconstruction document the incident within the wider context of such attacks, offering spatial and historical insight into the systematic targeting of critical systems throughout the conflict.

4. Aliağa Shipyard - Global Waste
Residency Project
Aliaga, Turkiye
field research, cartography, 3D modeling, OSINT

The Aliağa shipyard in Turkey is the largest EU-sanctioned facility for large ship recycling, yet it has drawn international concern over hazardous working conditions and environmental risks. As part of a broader investigation into global shipbreaking practices, this site is documented through drone-based photogrammetry, vessel identification, and ship tracking techniques. These methods help trace the eastward movement of decommissioned vessels and reveal how cost cutting measures in the global shipping industry often come at the expense of worker safety and environmental stewardship.
